First, a petition of divorce by mutual consent to be accepted, the couple should be separated for over a year or two years, as per the relevant act and be able to prove that they have not been able to live together. To evaluate the alimony, there is no specific amount as the quantum of compensation in a mutually consented divorce. As the term suggests it is to be decided on the consent of both the parties. Alternately an independent divorce is to be filed and file a separate petition seeking one-time alimony. It will take six months for a mutually consented divorce to be decreed.
