A petition for anticipatory bail can be filed in the high court or sessions court in case of apprehension of arrest for any offence committed. Anticipatory bail can be granted even after the FIR is filed, so long as the applicant has not been arrested. The grant of anticipatory bail is confined only to cases involving non-bailable offences.
