If the spouses are Indian citizens married under Indian Law, then the wife can ask for maintenance. As per Indian maintenance laws the wife is entitled to the same standard of living as her husband and also as she was enjoying when she was living with him. It should be shown that there is a huge difference between the income and living standard of the husband to that of his wife.
